Liz Waters grew up riding her 1950 Yamaha in the cotton fields of West Phoenix and realized the thrill and empowerment of riding. She learned to appreciate the value of hard work during her summers at the family-owned auto wrecking yard. To reward her, when she was just 15 her step-father towed home a 1971 Ford Pinto for her to rebuild. The next fall she was driving herself to school and never felt so free! She is proud to be involved in this event because it will allow her the opportunity to be a part of empowering other women the way she was empowered all those years ago!
At the age of 19 she sold her car and bought a plane ticket to Northern California. While there, she began to look at the world, and herself, differently. She realized that college wasn’t just ‘for other people,’ and she enrolled in community college, graduating in 1996 with an Associate’s degree in Communications from De Anza College in Cupertino, CA. She established a career in sales and dove into new opportunities
She brings this same spirit to the Steel Sisterhood’s organization and the upcoming Phoenix Rising Women’s Moto Summit slated for October 2018. Her ability to recognize the value of partnership is the special difference Liz’s clients find with her. Becoming S.T.R.O.N.G. Educational Grant Program also aligns with Liz’s belief that the path to empowerment is to aim high with the assurance you are worthy of success.
You may ask what does this have to do with insurance? Years later, Liz was suddenly widowed with two young children. It was a life-changing experience and the first time she realized that she and her husband were not adequately prepared. As a result, she is passionate about educating everyone she meets to prevent them from experiencing the hardships of suddenly being left behind without adequate coverage. She’s more than happy to explain the value of insurance; the protection it provides and the peace of mind that comes from preparation. The empowerment from her step-father gave her the desire to share what she knows, and to share her confidence with other women, so they, too, can go out into the world – fearless to see what they can be.
